“Atousa has helped me improve my chess dramatically. She has refined my openings, and helped me to understand chess at a higher level. She explains the ideas, so I am not just memorizing things! She is professional, and fun to work with. Also, I have won my last 4 tournaments, and got my best result a few weeks ago: first place in the under 1650 section in the Los Angeles Open.”

Atousa is wonderful! She is not only a grandmaster — and a brilliant lady — she exudes calm and wisdom to a degree that is so special in one who teaches children. We absolutely love her.

All of our 3 kids’ abilities and confidence improved tremendously with Atousa. Their ability to handle tactics, their abilities to think strategically improved a great deal.
We absolutely love Atousa and would recommend her to anyone. She is so wonderful with children and adults.

My older son had been taking chess at school, and really enjoyed it. I reached out to the LA Chess Club, and Atousa was highly recommended to our family. We chose Atousa initially because of that recommendation, and because of her skill level. Once we started taking lessons we would not study with anyone else. Her patience, professionalism, and incredible teaching abilities have not only made our sons better players, but they also continue to enjoy the learning process and playing.

Playing chess gives our sons a sense of great accomplishment. It encourages them to think, and problem solve in ways they otherwise wouldn’t. It has also taught them incredible patience.

Aside from all of those things, its a fun activity that our entire family can enjoy together.

What students of chess in LA say :

Hi, My name is Josh Levine, I’m 31 and my rating is about 1670.

Josh Levine, student of chess in LAI enjoyed our first lesson and how you translated complicated tactics into easy to understand concepts. I also liked how you explained my moves and the general ideas behind certain positions/situations. Very helpful!
My improvements have been mainly in my tactics and openings. I know I need to still work on memorizing opening variations. Working on it!
I would absolutely recommend you!
Benefits for me are mainly for hobby… and bragging rights among friends 😉 no but really, chess has always been a love of mine. And like anything that interests me, I’m always trying to improve.
